A big thanks to our Breast Cancer Warriors who braved the weather and attended our second annual Kathy S. Harkey Breast Cancer Foundation benefit.  Over 80 people showed up for our wine/craft beer tasting and casino night. We are still tallying the numbers but we raised nearly $10,000 for the cause and had a fun time doing it. A big thanks to the staff at Woodlands Unique for hosting the event and all our sponsors and contributors who made the event possible. We were happy to welcome Dr. Pamela Schlembach with MD Anderson and look forward to providing support to their campus out here in The Woodlands in the near future. The ultimate defeat of breast cancer will take time, effort and money. We are proud to do what we can to further this goal. Thanks again!!

We are really looking forward to our second annual foundation fund raiser on October 24th. We still have several individual and corporate sponsorships available if anyone is interested. This a great way to show your support and help us in the battle against breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time to support the fight against this horrible disease and we look forward to continuing our support of MD Anderson Cancer Center in The Woodlands.

Thanks for your support

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

When one thinks of October, it is Halloween, fall, pumpkin everything, and cooler weather. For some October is about breast cancer awareness. According to the American Cancer Society, 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be found in women and 2,350 in men, and 40,290 breast cancer deaths for women and 440 deaths for men will occur. Due to treatments, early detection, and research, the rates have decreased. We want to spread awareness so these statistics continue to improve.

Woodlands Unique has partnered up with The Kathy S. Harkey Breast Cancer Foundation and MD Anderson, to help my breast cancer a thing of the past. This month we are featuring on all of our website a whimsical pink fairy. This little guy’s name is The Spirit of Hope. When you purchase this fairy, we will make a $$ donation to the Kathy S. Harkey Breast Cancer Foundation. Hope, faith, and love are so important to have.

“Hope is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul

And sings the tune without the words

And never stops at all.”

– Emily Dickinson

Let this October be the month that we make a difference, even if it is by spreading the word to help raise awareness or participate in fundraising events or fighting it or finding a way to help rid the world of this debilitating disease.
